This medicine contains the active ingredient Bilobil. Ginkgo leaf extract belongs to a group of herbal medicines used to relieve the symptoms of mild to moderate dementia (chronic progressive disease of the brain; common symptoms are memory loss, balance problems, tremor, speech and language difficulty, trouble eating or swallowing). This medicine improves cerebral blood flow and metabolism and preserves intellectual capabilities. In circulatory disturbances of the limbs, the product relieves the feeling of cold, tingling, numbness and pain when walking.
Is Bilobil suitable for me?
Bilobil is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it
- if you are allergic to Ginkgo bilobae folii extractum siccum, or other ingredients of this medicine
In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding
- have an increased tendency to bleed (hemorrhagic diathesis)
- are being treated with medicines that prevent blood clotting
- are taking medicines to lower blood sugar or medicines to lower blood pressure
- are planning surgery
- suffer from epilepsy
Bilobil interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Bilobil?
This medicine is available in form of hard capsules.
You should take Bilobil exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended individual dose for adults and elderly people is 3 capsules of 40 mg (equivalent to 120 mg) 2 times per day, or 6 capsules of 40 mg (equivalent to 240 mg) once daily. The maximum daily dose is 6 capsules of 40 mg (equivalent to 240 mg daily).
The usual adult dose is: Disorders of the circulatory system and brain function: 1 capsule 2 to 3 times daily. Dizziness and tinnitus: 2 capsules a day, morning and evening. Disorders of blood circulation in the extremities: 2 capsules a day, morning and evening.
The usual adult dose for mild to moderate dementia: The usual dose is one capsule twice daily, preferably in the morning and evening. The initial disorders of blood circulation in the extremities: The usual dosage is one capsule once daily, preferably in the morning.
Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Bilobil side effects?
Like all medicines Bilobil can cause side effects, including:
- diarrhea, abdominal pain
- nausea, vomiting
- hypersensitivity reaction on the skin (itching, redness, swelling)
- bleeding in certain organs (brain, gastrointestinal tract, the eyes)
