This medicine contains the active ingredient ciprofloxacin which belongs to a group of medicines called fluoroquinolones. These antibiotics are used to stop several bacterial infections by destroying bacteria and preventing their growth. This medicine is prescribed for the treatment of the infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, sinus, genital tract, digestive system, skin and bone and joint.
Is Ciprofloxacin suitable for me?
Ciprofloxacin is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it
- if you are allergic to ciprofloxacin or to other ingredients of this medicine
- if you are taking tizanidine
In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:
- are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding
- have kidney problems
- have epilepsy or other neurological conditions
- have tendon problems
- have diabetes
- have myasthenia gravis
- have heart problems
Ciprofloxacin interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Ciprofloxacin?
This medicine is available in form of a film-coated tablet.
You should take ciprofloxacin exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose will depend on the infection you have.
Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Also, this medicine works best if there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep this amount constant, do not miss any doses and take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

Like all medicines ciprofloxacin can cause side effects, including:
- feeling sick, diarrhea
- joint pains
- fungal superinfections
- loss of appetite
- hyperactivity or agitation
- headache, dizziness, sleeping problems, or taste disorders
- being sick, stomach pain, digestive problems
- skin rash
- kidney problems
